Reported boycott going on in parking lot of North

There will be no senior picnic for seniors at Middletown High School North, Tindall Road. According to one concerned parent, seniors were reportedly told that they were "the worst class senior class in the history of Middletown High School North."

The picnic is an annual tradition that was reportedly scheduled for today. However, it's no picnic at North. Students are reportedly angry and it is being reported that there is a senior boycott that is under way at the school's parking lot. The parent says kids are gathering at parking lot and they are concerned police might be called in.

"The school is going to punish a whole body for one or two individuals. I question the whole motivation of the administration here. I do not understand what is going on with this," the parent said.

UPDATE: As of 9:30 a.m., Courier Senior Staff Writer Alyssa Passeggio reported that students were not in the parking lot. According to a source, the student event had been "headed off." However, more information about this situation will be forthcoming from Courier Staff Writer Melissa Gaffney, on her blog Simply Sable, later today.

Middletown shows up to express sympathy about VT tragedy

The event on Friday night honoring the late Julia Pryde was very moving andsomething that gave the township a chance to show support and remember her,her family and her friends. Her death was a terrible thing, and this is a youngperson who will be very missed.

The national media covering this story, I believe, has made a mistake in giving the play it has to the person responsible for the deaths at Virginia Tech. There is a line. At some point there has to be. Giving the person responsible for these things the news status he has been awarded is something that does harm, I think, and ceases to just inform about relevent fact.

This week, there will be stories in the upcoming Courier by myself and Reporter Scott Shanley. The main story regarding the event will be written by Senior Reporter Matt McGrath.
