Imus does it again? Maybe and maybe not

WABC's Don Imus is in the midst of another racial controversy, this time regarding a comment he made about NFL star Adam Jones. Reportedly, this is not a repeat of the Rutgers Women's Basketball Team fiasco of old.

Imus has been in broadcasting for some decades now. The game does tend to change over time. What is considered acceptable has changed since a few decades ago. That isn't to say that Imus did anything wrong this time, but things are a heck of a lot different out there from the 70s.

Personally, I never found the guy funny. It's a lot like listening to someone's great grandfather trying to crack jokes and be witty. For me, it comes out sounding irritated and gassy. WABC is standing behind its guy here, and if he hasn't said anything dumb they should stick to their guns.

Imus remark still resonates

Radio personality Don Imus was recently named as king of the politically incorrect for his characterization of the Rutgers Women's Basketball Team. The remark cost the long-time radio fixture his on-air job at the time but the controversy is bound to be remembered for some time.

Imus has his hand out in lawsuit

Don Imus made remarks he knew were wrong. He apologized for the comments, and his apology was largely accepted. But that still doesn't mean he should not be fired. He was fired by his company for venturing into the area of racism, and anyone with any degree of common sense knows what that is.

Now he wants to sue his company because he was fired. Why was this guy a celebrity in the first palce again?
