Hidlay promoted at Gannett; company undergoes slimming

According to INPRINT, Vol. 19, Issue 6, William C. "Skip" Hidlay was named as the president and publisher for the Courier News, Bridgewater, and the Home News Tribune, Woodbridge, both Gannett papers. In addition, he will publish two Web sites, mycentraljersey.com and centraljerseymoms.com.

Formerly, Mr. Hidlay was the executive editor and vice presidewnt/news for the Asbury Park Press. Congratulations to Mr. Hidlay after a strong tenure at the APP and best wishes for the future.

In other news, Gannett offered buyouts to 160 workers at most of its New Jersey newspapers. According to INPRINT, offers were made to those over 55 years old with at least 15 years of service.

The newspapers impacted included: The Asbury Park Press, the Courier News, the Courier-Post, Home News Tribune and the Daily Journal.
