Da Truth Squad has something to say

Da Truth Squad is in the middle of this brouhaha with Manalapan and some leaders in the Republican Party. There are allegations that Da Truth Squad is pulling some kind of shenanigans when it involves his blog.

I agree with many blog critics that being anonymous is not the best of things. I think the issue comes back to why the blogger is being anonymous and what he or she is posting. If someone fears reprisal, legitimately, then it seems to make sense to post anonymously. Of course, if some politicians in this county would stop with reprisals for people speaking their mind and offering opinion then that would negate the need for anyone being secretive. I have opted to be public in all things I say and, consequently, have dealt with some politicians' reprisals. I suppose I could have done without them.

But back to bloggers: If a blogger is using satire, it is a protected form of speech, when done appropriately. Opinion is just that, and it is a long-recognized right to hold one. It is entirely possible that someone will not enjoy someone's satire, or their opinion. I know there are plenty of opinions I have not agreed with or enjoyed.

If Da Truth Squad has libeled or defamed anyone then there are courts for that. But there has been tax money spent on making a fuss over Da Truth Squad over in Manalapan, and that is ridiculous. Such unnecessary expenditures are the problem with government these days. But one way or the other, blogs aren't going to go anywhere. So, they can be called any number of names by people. Blogs are still going to be here. Some will be run well, and others not well. What is 'good' or 'bad' is relatively subjective. Yet, there are some common notions of what 'responsible' is.
